Senior Games is a statewide program for senior citizens ages fifty and over. Participants compete in a variety of athletic events. Events include: basketball shooting, football throw, softball throw, spincasting, croquet, billiards, horseshoes, shuffleboard, cornhole, bocce, tennis, table tennis, bowling, track & field events, pickleball, and golf. There is also a Silver Arts program where seniors can display their talents in the arts. The subcategories include: heritage arts, visual arts, literary arts, and performing arts. Our local Smoky Mountain Senior Games program is held in late April and early May each year. Registration begins in March. Participants compete in age categories for each event. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers qualify for the North Carolina Senior Games State Finals held in the Raleigh area each September and October.
The WALK program is open to all ages. This is a free program and no registration is required. Just show up at the WCU Ramsey Center concourse and walk.
